I’ve always enjoyed Goya’s paintings, dark as some of the subject matter can be. I read somewhere that for models, he often used friends or people he met in bars, and sometimes just pulling random people off the street if they had a look that suited his narrative.
I was intrigued by these people as he often included them in his paintings. I made a series of drawings then sometimes painted over prints of the drawings. Here are a few.
